The buildings at the Kurutie site include a storey building that houses the VC’s office and its supporting staff. Others include offices for the registrar,bursar, HoDs, deans, accounts department, boardroom,conference room, general offices and other ancillary offices that are all furnished.
Other structures include a 1,200 capacity ceremonial pavilion, a 9 bed medical centre with a yet to be furnished digital laboratory, workshop block, a storey building with a 12 classroom block, two canteens, an e-learning centre and a fully furnished 200 capacity lecture auditorium.
It should be recalled that Rotimi Amaechi while trying to justify the Federal Government’s decision to scrap the Nigerian Maritime University once told the senate Committee on Marine Transport that there was no work on the Permanent site of the Maritime University in Okerenkoko, Delta state and insisted that what was on ground was “just the feasibility study”.Amaechi said;
“Whoever that is holding on to the money should better return it. The Chinese company contracted, confirmed that only the feasibility study was in place.”
